KAREN MURRAY
While Karen has worked with a variety of clients throughout her career in public relations, the unique storytelling opportunities offered by franchise brands have made this category a distinct focus over the past 10 years. From growing brands ready to tell their founding stories and reach prospective owners looking for an innovative business model to established companies looking to position their executives as industry leaders, Karen takes the time to truly learn every facet of the business in order to uncover what truly sets the brand apart. She thrives on client conversations where founders share how they started the business, unaware of what a powerful vision it sets for potential franchisees and customers alike, to the compelling stories of local neighbors opening their first business in order to create a legacy for their family.
Karen began her career at Tierney, the PR and advertising agency in Philadelphia, where she gained exposure to a wide range of client industries and tactics and learned alongside expert public relations professionals working for top national brands. After exploring in-house and agency positions, Karen recognized her true love for the variety and fast pace of the agency life. She honed her franchise PR skills while frequently partnering with Elysium Marketing Group before officially joining the firm to lead its PR and Content practice.
A graduate of the College of the Holy Cross, Karen lives with her husband, Chris, and two children, Bridget and Charlie, in Berwyn, PA. The family enjoys all the sports—both playing (tennis and golf especially) and watching (go Birds, Phils, and Villanova basketball!), and finding the best restaurants and recipes to try on the weekend. Karen and Chris are active in their community, particularly through opportunities to support and promote individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Helen Eckhard
Helen is the Digital Marketing Director at Elysium, where she guides organic search and paid media efforts across the agency’s portfolio. She sees marketing as a fundamentally creative discipline and treats each client’s strategy as a new puzzle to solve, not a playbook to copy.
As AI becomes an increasingly large part of the search landscape, Helen has also helped build Elysium’s generative engine optimization (GEO) program. Through prompt engineering and testing at scale, her team studies which brands AI engines cite and why, so that client recommendations are grounded in evidence rather than industry hype.
An alum of Grinnell College and Stanford University, Helen worked on both agency and in-house marketing teams before joining Elysium in 2024. She has helped dozens of brands turn their marketing into real business growth, focusing on the customers most likely to convert over vanity metrics.
Outside of work, Helen is a tinkerer, experimenting with her own website projects, building apps, and—when she is feeling extra creative—designing her own knitting and cross-stitch patterns.
